Cleaning the inside of the cylinder is a key element of periodic refurbishment: over the years, rust, oxidation and other contaminants can build up on the inside walls of the cylinder, degrading the quality of the stored gas and reducing the cylinder's lifetime. PWENT offers a full range of internal cleaning machines and tools for official testing protocols, according to EN ISO 18119 (periodic inspection) and relevant EU standards.
Why internal cleaning is important
Internal contamination causes four main problems. First, it impairs the quality and purity of the stored gas - critical for medical, food and process applications. Second: rust and oxidation weaken the cylinder wall, reducing structural integrity. Third, contamination can clog valves and regulating elements. Fourth, oily or organic contamination in oxygen cylinders poses an explosion hazard.
Internal cleaning methods
Shot blasting: the most effective method of removing thick oxidation - using small steel or glass particles to mechanically clean the inside of the bottle. Wire brush cleaning: for smaller contaminants, a more delicate operation. Chemical cleaning: for special cases where the mechanical method is not suitable. Water jet cleaning: for oxygen cylinders where oil-free conditions are critical.
Products
ICS 1850-CLD manual gas cylinder transport trolley: for rotating and moving cylinders, loading them into the cleaning machine. Internal cleaning units for the above methods. In addition to the cleaning machines, PWENT also provides the associated handling and transport equipment for the complete workflow.
Industry application and service
Gas cylinder refurbishment workshops carry out internal cleaning at each periodic inspection. We also carry out internal cleaning as a servicing service at PWENT workshops. Ask for a quote.
