The external painting of gas cylinders is the final technical step in the refurbishment process prior to labelling: the paint protects the steel wall of the cylinder from corrosion, and the colour-code marking specified by the ADR ensures the visual identification of the gas type. PWENT offers complete painting and surface treatment systems for gas cylinder refurbishment workshops.
ADR colour codes and painting specifications
The ADR stipulates colour coding for gas cylinders: white for oxygen, maroon for acetylene, red for hydrogen, black for nitrogen, dark green for argon, grey for CO₂, and various colours for industrial gas mixtures. The paint must be durable and resistant to weathering, chemical effects and mechanical damage. PWENT’s painting systems comply with the relevant ADR and EN standards.
Paint and surface treatment products
Extraction booth: controlled extraction of paint dust to protect the operator’s health and keep the environment clean. Paint sprayer and spray gun: to ensure an even paint film thickness for various paint types (primer, topcoat, anti-corrosion coating). Paint pump: for continuous and even paint delivery. RCP 270 cleaning machine (also in the external cleaning category) — for surface preparation prior to painting. RCP/FILT dust extraction for cleaning.
Integrated workflow
PWENT supports the entire refurbishment process: external cleaning (shot blasting, wire brushing) → surface preparation → painting (primer + topcoat) → drying → re-lettering. The integrated workflow ensures time savings and consistent quality. Our staff will assist you in sizing your workshop’s painting section and selecting the appropriate machinery.
