CO2 charging for fire extinguishers

The maintenance of CO₂ (carbon dioxide) fire extinguishers requires specialised filling and regassing equipment: the safe recovery of the old CO₂, an internal inspection of the cylinder, and the refilling of the cylinder with the exact quantity of new CO₂ as specified. PWENT offers complete CO₂ filling and regassing systems for fire safety maintenance workshops — in accordance with Decree 9/2008 (II.22.) ÖTM and the EN 3-7 standard. Note: the 400-020 covers fire protection (small to medium-sized) CO₂ charging. Industrial and cryogenic CO₂ charging systems are a separate category (500-010).

CO₂ filling process
During fire extinguisher maintenance, the CO₂ refilling process is strictly regulated. First, the old CO₂ is recovered (transferred to a larger storage container), followed by an internal inspection of the cylinder (including a hydrostatic test, if due). After the cylinder has been inspected, new CO₂ is filled to the exact marked level — overfilling is dangerous (the cylinder may crack), whilst underfilling reduces the fire extinguisher’s effectiveness.

Workshop and mobile solutions
Workshop pump-compressor system: a permanently installed, high-capacity CO₂ filling unit for the daily maintenance of 50+ fire extinguishers. Integrated with a set of scales to ensure accurate filling quantities. SKID AC/FG8 mobile CO₂ and powder refilling unit: for on-site servicing, with a smaller capacity. The SKID AC/FG8 is also listed in the Mobile Maintenance Station category.

CO2 Workshop — Complete Package
The „Workshop Kit for CO₂ Fire Extinguishers” (400-080) package contains all the necessary equipment for the complete maintenance of CO₂ fire extinguishers: refilling, recovery, valve servicing, surface cleaning and surface treatment. We recommend this for setting up a new workshop or expanding an existing one.

Our staff will help you choose a CO₂ filling system suited to your workshop’s capacity. Request an on-site assessment.
