Gas cylinder pressure test (serv.)

The hydrostatic test of gas cylinders forms the basis of the periodic inspection required by law: it checks the structural integrity and safety of the cylinder. PWENT offers an official hydrostatic test service up to a maximum pressure of 450 bar, in accordance with EN ISO 18119 (periodic inspection) and PED 2014/68/EU. This service is now listed as a separate category in the new structure — previously it was part of the maintenance package, but can now be ordered separately.

The pressure test procedure
The official hydrostatic test follows a strict protocol. (1) Cylinder inspection: external visual inspection, weighing, document check. (2) Valve removal: safe handling of residual pressure. (3) Internal cleaning: if rusty or contaminated. (4) Hydrostatic test: filling the cylinder with water and raising the test pressure to 1.5 times the working pressure — e.g. 200 bar working pressure → 300 bar test pressure, 300 bar working pressure → 450 bar test pressure. (5) Evaluation of results: expansion measurement, leak test. (6) Drying, refitting of valve, marking with the test date. (7) Issuing of an official report.

What does the official report mean?
The PWENT report contains: the cylinder’s identification details (manufacturer, date of manufacture, serial number), test pressure, the inspector’s name and certificate number, the date of the test, and the result (pass/fail). This document is mandatory in the event of an official inspection — in the absence of an inspection, the cylinder may not be refilled, and the owner is liable for any accidents resulting from its use.

Pricing and discounts
The price for a single-bottle pressure test starts at 4,500 HUF (for bottles under 50 litres) and 7,500 HUF (for larger bottles). Volume discount: significantly lower rates apply for 10+, 50+ and 100+ cylinders. Contract pricing available for businesses.
