The role of marking in safety and legislation
The marking does not only have an identification function: the test pressure, volume, year of manufacture and the date of the next due test are mandatory in the bottle in a permanent manner according to ADR. Ownership and gas type marking also prevents improper filling and use - for example, filling a CO2 cylinder with oxygen through an oily valve, which could lead to an explosion.
