Filling water extinguishers

Water-based fire extinguishers are the simplest and oldest type of active fire protection equipment: they are suitable for extinguishing Class A fires (solid, generally organic materials — wood, paper, textiles). Maintenance of water-based fire extinguishers involves an annual inspection in accordance with EN 3-7 and Decree 9/2008 (II.22.) ÖTM, as well as a thorough service every five years. PWENT offers a complete range of water-based fire extinguisher refilling machines.

Types of water extinguishers
Pure water: the most common type, for Class A fires. Water + additive: water containing an additive (surfactant) that reduces its surface tension, thereby improving its penetration into the material. Water mist: tiny water droplets discharged at high pressure, providing a larger cooling surface area — a modern, more effective variant. Wet chemical: For Class F oil fires (frying fat, cooking oil) — a specially formulated agent, classified as part of the water-based extinguishing category.

Maintenance process
Maintenance of water-based fire extinguishers is as strict as for other types of fire extinguishers: annual inspection (external visual inspection, weighing, pressure check), and a thorough maintenance service every five years (cylinder opening, internal inspection, hydrostatic test, replacement of the charge). PWENT’s filling machines automate the precise dosing of water, the mixing ratio of additives and the adjustment of the propellant gas (usually nitrogen) to the correct operating pressure (12–15 bar).

Filling machines and accessories
PWENT’s water-extinguishing and filling machines feature a built-in water tank, scales and a pressure regulator — all the necessary functions in a single machine. Accessories include: hose changer, valve changer, pressure gauge calibrator and marking machine. Complete fire extinguisher maintenance can be carried out as an integrated workflow in the workshop.

Introduction of a new category
This is a NEW category in PWENT’s product range — there has not been a dedicated page for it until now. The aim of this launch is to provide a comprehensive range of products for fire safety maintenance workshops. Please request a quote.
