Industrial CO₂ filling technologies
Liquid-phase filling (cryogenic): CO₂ is stored in a liquid state (-78°C) in large industrial tanks and is transferred to cylinders in liquid form. This is the most efficient method, but it requires the use of specialised materials (low-temperature-resistant steel, suitable seals). Gas-phase filling: CO₂ is filled into cylinders in gaseous form (50–70 bar) — for smaller capacities. Hybrid systems: a combination of liquid storage and gas-phase filling, offering optimal logistical cost savings.
System components
Pump-compressor unit: for increasing the pressure of CO2 to an operating pressure of 200–300 bar. Distribution station capable of filling multiple cylinders simultaneously. Automated weighing system: each cylinder is filled precisely to the specified volume — using a PLC-controlled system. Cooling system: to dissipate the heat generated during filling. Safety valves and sensors: for monitoring pressure, temperature and gas leaks.
