Gas cylinder maintenance machines are professional pieces of equipment that cover every stage of the gas cylinder reconditioning process. The periodic inspection (hydrostatic test) and refurbishment required by law are essential for maintaining the cylinder’s full service life. PWENT offers a complete range of machinery for maintenance workshops — 87 products across 10 sub-categories — in accordance with all EU standards (PED 2014/68/EU, TPED 2010/35/EU, EN ISO 9809).

The steps in the maintenance process
The gas cylinder reconditioning process follows the same steps for every cylinder. First, the valve is unscrewed using a special valve-removal machine — safe management of the residual pressure is critical at this stage. This is followed by internal and external cleaning (using wire brushes and sandblasting). A hydrostatic test is carried out at pressures of 30–500 bar to check the structural integrity of the cylinder — if the test fails, the rejection machine scraps the cylinder (even for 34CrMo4 steel). This is followed by drying, painting and re-labelling. Finally, the valve is refitted with the correct torque (100–500 Nm).
